Ok, maybe there's already a thread about this but oh well. =p

So what is Capricorn type music?
Any artists or songs you guys would consider Capricorn?
I'm trying to get into the Capricorn mindset.

well, Rob Zombie & Marylin Manson are both caps...

but what kind of music is particularly capricornyish? every other cap i've known personally has been **really** into classic rock. or dead heads. i think because it's old and comfy like a warm slipper. i like to listen to it on my commute because it's good driving/back ground music. but it's not something i listen to very often otherwise.

i think caps might swing from liking something comfortable to something totally new and hot depending on mood/personality.

Hmm, thanks for the tip Raposa! =)

I listen to classical music when I do my homework because it helps my thoughts to become more organized. The reason I'm asking for Capricorn Music is I want to get into the mindset of being more enduring of repetition. When something becomes repetitive I tend to hate and want to stop.

personally Im such a student of music that I have a bit of everything, and listen to what I want depending on my mood. If I'm depressed or otherwise in a foul mood then black metal/death metal does the trick. normal moods its rock, also got blues and jazz in the mix as well.

most of the capricorns i know have an extremely wide variety of musical tastes, and usually very eclectic within that range. I would put myself into that category, and thinking about the other caps i've known, i would say that the LOVE of music in all forms has overridden any tendency toward a certain genre and some of my cap friends are downright obsessive about collecting music. I share similar musical tastes with many of them, from IDM to big band, 1920's crooners, really old Mississippi blues, deep trance, jam bands, 80's new wave, industrial, ambient, shoegazer, classical indian or arabic, it goes on and on. But what we always have the most in common is the FLAVOR of that music, and what it evokes within us that peaks our interest. Kind of like how capricorns may all dress differently but tend toward the same colors.

I think the answer to this question might point more to our circle of friends than a general astrological propensity. Very few of my friends are into metal, rock, (least of all classic rock), blues, country--Capricorns or otherwise. But in a different community of friends, college students, small towns, etc, people are influenced by different types of music.

Anyways, thanks for the replies guys.
I get the idea that Capricorns are more into older music, as they are considered the negative cardinal type which are more concerned with tradition and the past.
I guess there isn't a type of music that Capricorns like, traditional music is a huge genre depending where you live and your background. In the USA, I guess typical Capricorns would like classic rock, or old jazz music depending on their upbringing and age.

Me, I am all over the passionate music(fire) and spiritual music(water?).

OLD music, definitely! old, GOOD music! nothing too strong or heavy though (so rock, metal and whatnot are automatically out of consideration)

personally, do tend to LOVE other days' hits. 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, you name it. whatever the genre, as long as it had been popular back in its days. charleston, glenn miller, connie stevens, the flamingos, the chordettes, chubby checker, donna summer, carpenters, bee gees, eurythmics, wham, bananarama, mc hammer, blondie, vanilla ice, thecnotronic...!

in a nutshell, id say MY favorite kind of music must be old(er), sound good/"pretty", and would have to have been a hit.

also, the newest and hottest music too. again, as long as it sounds good.. and.. hm. its popular. now that i think of it, i guess im just kind of mainstream that way

I'll listen to just about anything, but it has to be smart or feel special somehow. Not necessarily complex always, but extremely thoughtful or incredibly sensual. In music with lyrics, I definitely admire an understated eloquence with hidden gravity. But I can dig being totally gauche and really laying it on thick as long as the overall feel is plush, like crawling through velvet. But yeah, my taste is everywhere and nowhere all at once. I'll listen to any genre. In that sense, I'm very broad. But I'm very discriminating within those genres. I think Madame has hit it on the head, really.

One important thing about my experience with music is that I love "secret" new finds. I absolutely revel in them and fully digest them before giving other junkies a heads up. I don't know where that little quirk comes from.

I've been very into music for as long as I can remember. Used to play some instruments but wandered away from them for various reasons. My music collection is extensive and continuously expanding, though slowly (Caps don't like things to change do quickly, do we?). It ranges from Art of Noise to Mozart to Kiss to Sir Mix-A-Lot to Shania Twain to Godsmack to Berlin to Rush. I've been exploring a lot of Goth and Techno/House music of late. Interesting re-mixes or re-imaging have appeal but only if they bring something new to the table.

There is always some underlying characteristic that draws me in. Sometimes it's a voice that just gets under my skin (Terri Nunn of Berlin and Maynard Keenan from Tool are like that), sometimes it's lyrics, but mostly it's melody. The song has to GO somewhere, have some theme or purpose to it. Showing off how fast a guitarist can wiggle his/her fingers on the fretboard is just so much auditory masturbation: to me it's only really fun for the person doing it.

What music I listen to at any given moment is driven by my mood. Sometimes I want music to support the mood I'm in (winding down / mellowing out from work) or sometimes I want it to burn the feeling out of me (angry music). When I want background music I'll go for something well known or otherwise non-challenging. If I'm there to pay attention and really LISTEN then the music gets more complex and compelling, chosen for it's ability to evoke/invoke.

i only know 2 cap males and 1 cap female.

one of the male caps i know listens to mostly alt rock, punk, folk, and indie. some examples include smashing pumpkins (his favorite band), death cab for cutie, the fratellis, and the stars. the other one i know is a musician himself and his tastes are very similar except he's less of the emo persuasion. some of his tastes include the ramones, the misfits, murder city devils (RIP), and botch. i have seen some rap on his mp3 player as well.

the female cap i know is uber girly and listens to horribly cheesy pop and new country. she also likes classic rock too though.

this is off-topic but i noticed that a cap's gender really defines them. the men are manly and the women girly. hmph.
